The CRAFT Project has supported the development of climate smart agriculture training manuals and training aids for seven (7) value chains notably; potato, soybean, sunflower, sorghum, greengrams, common beans and sesame. The resources are now being used by both private and public extension workers to train smallholder farmers on recommended practices and technologies.

The training materials are comprised of a ‘training manual’ which is the extension officers’ handbook/reference material on technical aspects of production of a particular commodity; and the ‘training aids’, which are a set of simple illustrations and pictorials that will be used by the extension officers to train smallholder farmers in climate smart practices and technologies.

Before publication, the manuals underwent technical validations at community and national levels with the key stakeholders including key line government ministries and institutions as well as representatives from like-minded civil society organizations and project supported agribusiness SMEs and Cooperatives.

These processes were key since they enabled the project to solicit other input from the selected experts.
